Hollywood Dave Stann SEASON ONE / EPISODE EIGHT: Hollywood Dave is the favorite in this field, but it doesn't come easy. Dave gets battered mid-match and has to climb back from a significant deficit to get to heads-up play with Erica Schoenberg. Not to be denied twice, Hollywood uses a big lead at the end to force Erica into big bets that she must win. When she doesn't, Hollywood Dave takes his first UBT championship.

WINNER: Hollywood Dave Stann

The trash-talking certified genius put his money where his mouth is... and won.

. . . . . . . . . .

PLAYERS:

The players are Jennifer Tilly, Dennis Novinskey, Hollywood Dave, Erica Schoenberg, Skip Samad, Matt Davidow, and Freddy Deeb.

Hollywood Dave is back for a second try after losing a heartbreaker to Ken Smith in the season's first event. His main competition comes from tournament regulars Erica Schoenberg and Skip Samad, along with poker powerhouse Freddy Deeb. Actress/poker player Jennifer Tilly is a surprise finalist, as is Internet gambler Matt Davidow. The Internet qualifier is Dennis Novinskey.

. . . . . . . . . .

ELIMINATION:

Hand 2: Jennifer Tilly falls victim to an aggressive two-hand parlay gone bad and bites the dust on hand two (to the considerable chagrin of the UBT TV guys, whose worst nightmare is realized with the quick loss of their biggest celebrity). This was an interesting situation. See "Strategy Notes" for an explanation.

Hand 7: Matt Davidow makes a well-timed all-in bet and wires up a 20, but the dealer dispatches him with a wicked 5A69 combo for 21. Ouch!

Hand 8: Yet another Internet qualifier exits early (almost all have in this season) when Dennis Novinskey can't overcome the double whammy of betting first and being the low chip-count on an Elimination Hand.

Hand 16: Freddy Deeb is next to go, also a victim of betting first with the lowest bankroll. It's a spot you don't want to put yourself in (see "Strategy Notes").

Hand 20: Skip Samad doesn’t win another hand after 16 and drops from over $100,000 to elimination on hand 20.

Last Hand
Hollywood Dave begins the heads-up match with Erica with a commanding lead of $104,000 to $63,500. Erica has enough chips to mount a challenge, but she has to win a hand. She has her chance with a $40,000 double down, but only pushes. She goes all in on hand 22 and the dealer finishes her with a blackjack. Hollywood Dave comes through and plays for all the marbles—plus, gets another shot at Ken Smith—in the Tournament of Champions.
